Problem Statement

Healthcare safety is a critical global issue, profoundly affecting both patients and healthcare providers. According to WHO statistics, unsafe care results in over 3 million deaths worldwide each year. In low- and middle-income countries, the risk of healthcare-associated infections is twenty times higher than in high-income nations. The social cost of patient harm is estimated at US$1-2 trillion annually, with the potential to increase global economic growth by over 0.7% per year if these harms are eliminated. Alarmingly, 4 in 100 people in the developing world die due to unsafe care, and patient safety issues are forecasted to cost the global economy US$383.7 billion by 2022 (G20). Unsafe care disproportionately impacts low- and middle-income countries, causing 134 million adverse events in hospitals annually and contributing to 2.6 million deaths (WHO).
These figures underscore the urgent need for improved safety measures in healthcare. The current landscape is further complicated by the lack of standardized terminology for handling health safety data, leaving stakeholders poorly equipped to make informed decisions. There are substantial gaps in compliance and delays in problem detection. Safety measures are often centralized, with their full repercussions poorly understood, and safety gaps remain unidentified and unpreventable. Additionally, safety practices are not adequately forecasted or benchmarked.
To address these challenges, the customer conceived a transformative platform aimed at revolutionizing global healthcare safety. This comprehensive solution, designed as an all-encompassing knowledge base, would engage all stakeholders in the healthcare industry

The platform seeks to enhance safety for seven key groups: The public, healthcare providers, healthcare professionals, medical students, regulators/government bodies, insurance payers, and pharmaceutical suppliers. Comprising six distinct modules/toolkits, the platform addresses the unique pain points of each stakeholder. Unlike existing products that take a reactive approach, this platform focuses on proactive decision support, prioritizing the safety of both patients and healthcare staff.

Solution:

In transforming preventive healthcare into a proactive and predictive practice, iauro Systems Pvt. Ltd. delivered a suite of innovative solutions. We developed a unified design system language to enhance UI/UX, implemented a cloud-agnostic enterprise architecture with micro frontends, microservices, DevSecOps, and data engineering for seamless system integration and actionable AI/ML insights. An end-to-end data toolkit was created to securely manage patient and staff information, while automated workflows streamlined patient journey management. Additionally, AI/ML-based decision-makinAfter thoroughly understanding the problem statement, we adopted a design thinking methodology to create a prototype. This was followed by developing a comprehensive architecture focusing on two key aspects: constructing the platform and selecting the right technologies to ensure its scalability on a global level, incorporating all six modules.
